Always getting cast as the same type? Feel like you are always playing yourself onstage? Learn from one of the best character actors in the Triangle area! You’ll learn how to create a vast scope of characters, with exercises on how to discover their distinct voices and movements while finding the true spirit of each character. A fun class for all levels of skill with final class performance recorded.

Open to ages 18+

Gus Allen has been acting all over the Triangle for nearly a decade, winning numerous awards along the way. He specializes in playing a host of uniquely rich and dynamic characters, frequently in the same show. Notable productions include It’s a Wonderful Life (George Bailey), The Importance of Being Earnest (Algernon), Monty Python’s Spamalot (French Taunter), Doubt (Father Flynn), And Then There Were None (Judge Wargrave), Death of a Salesman (Biff Loman), and The 39 Steps (Clown 1). Gus started from the ground up with supporting roles in several Cary Players shows, and has since gone on to win the Pietzsch Award (Cary Players), the Cantey Award (RLT), the Cannon Award (NLT) and the inaugural Triangle Award. In addition to theatre, Gus has also performed improv comedy at Comedy Worx in Raleigh since 2011.
