Cinematography Practicum Workshop 2
An independent filmmaker and photographer based out of North Carolina, Renée has worked in locations around the U.S. as well as abroad in Finland where she directed and filmed Sisareni, her first international collaboration.
Renée filmed and produced her first feature-length documentary, Behind the Lens: Transforming Disability Through Creation at Duke Divinity School in completion of her Masters in Theological Studies degree and Certificate in Theology and the Arts in 2020. Renée has also written and directed original scripts and produced festival-placed short films, including Sisareni, which was shot on location in Finland and screened in film festivals worldwide. As an independent filmmaker, Renée has over 10 years of experience working in film from screenwriting to direction, cinematography, and editing in various platforms. Renée has also spent 3 years teaching filmmaking courses and seminars to young students in the Raleigh- Durham area as a lead film instructor at a privately owned studio.

- Dive into the practice of cinematography with the review of essentials of camera and lighting and a hands-on session where students will compose a scene with the principles of staging, shots, and movement.
- Compose a shot list, make a camera team, practice within a rotating group, and shoot several experimental scenes and review with the class.
- Students are encouraged to bring their own camera and gear to class. DSLR and Blackmagic cameras will be demonstrated.
- There will be a short break in the middle of the workshop.
