Healing Through the Arts Workshop Full Series
An immersive, three-part workshop exploring the healing power of the arts through collaborative teaching and communal practice. Students will have the opportunity to think deeply and create artistically in a hands-on approach for each session.
Each part of the workshop series will dive deep into the following topics:
Part One: Acting & Mindfulness
Bronwen Carson will lead the acting workshop with openness and creativity without judgements, creating an atmosphere of relaxation and awareness. As a group, we will explore how the body, facial expressions and thoughts connect, convey and express our inner states and finding our voices as a vehicle for tension release, expression, and play. Improvisation and imagination are welcome and guided in this unique session.
Part Two: Cinema & Contemplation
International filmmaker, Renée Fisher, will host an interactive discussion and viewing of curated films, with an emphasis on exploring themes of memory, artistic freedom, rhythms of grief, and healing through beauty. This will be a relaxed and engaged environment featuring the dynamic art of cinema. Students are requested to bring a notebook and pen for a journaling exercise.
Part Three: Dance & Movement
Local freestyle dance teacher and yoga practitioner, Casey Beauchamp, will offer an innovative and fun approach to learning movement and self-awareness through the principles of dance. Freedom of expression, humor, experimentation, and embodiment are key themes that will be offered in this unique workshop. Students will learn to explore their own unique style of dance. Please wear your comfortable sneakers!
